As a part of an effort to affect change at the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission (IDHHC), Illinois Association of the Deaf (IAD) President Corey Axelrod and Vice President Kevin Ryan recently sent a letter to Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner regarding the IDHHC’s continuous failures to satisfy the eight mandates established in law.
These failures are further intensified by the additional egregious behaviors of the commissioners (e.g., proposed changes to the bylaws to protect current Director Miller’s position and change the objective and purpose of the IDHHC).
At IAD, we look forward to a better tomorrow and future with the IDHHC. Change is much needed, and we look forward to working with the Governor’s Office to make this change happen!
