The Illinois Association of the Deaf recognizes the Illinois School for the Deaf Alumni Association (ISDAA), Jacksonville Community Center for the Deaf (JCCD) and Jacksonville Chapter of Illinois Association of the Deaf (JIAD) for sending letters of concern to Dr. Beth Purvis, Illinois Secretary of Education, and John Miller, Director of the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission.
In these letters, the respective organizations expressed their organization’s concerns with the Governor’s Office’s decision to collaborate with the IDHHC and IDHHC’s exclusion of the various organizations from the steering committee advising the IDHHC on the superintendent search for the Illinois School for the Deaf.
