The Illinois Association of the Deaf recognizes the community’s concerns in how the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission (IDHHC) excluded the Illinois Association of the Deaf (IAD), Illinois School for the Deaf Alumni Association and Jacksonville Community Center for the Deaf from the steering committee advising IDHHC on strategic initiatives to secure candidates for the ISD superintendent position. As a result, the IAD submitted a letter to John Miller, the director of IDHHC and former President of the IAD, addressing the community’s concerns and recommendations on how IDHHC can regain the trust of the Deaf community.
