Dear IAD Members and Deaf Illinoisans,
During this difficult time with the Covid-19 (Coronavirus), IAD would like to remind everyone to stay abreast of health warnings and concerns regarding this pandemic.
At this time, IAD may not be hosting any in-person events. IAD will be following ‘Social Distancing’ recommendations for supporting our members. Which means that there may be no in-person events for a period of time. Contact will be primarily via online using email, social media, and video conferencing tools. If meetings or events must occur, we make every effort to host them online.
On-going membership renewals and donations can always be submitted online at our website.
We encourage everyone to follow any local and business curfews implemented to help reduce the spread of the virus.
Consider checking ahead for any travel plans that could be affected. Especially for air or international travel which may be impacted by travel bans or cancellations.
There have been questions about the continuity of the 2020 NAD Conference here in Chicago in July – This event is managed by NAD (National Association of the Deaf). Please check out A Message from the NAD about Coronavirus (COVID-19) if you have not yet viewed the video.
IAD will post relevant and important information regarding awareness about this pandemic online.
As always verify your sources, follow the news, practice health and safety recommendations, be aware of price gouging for health products, be extra cautious about suspicious/scam VRS calls, and online financial scams related to the virus.
IAD is here to support the deaf community. If there are any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of the Executive Board.
