IAD has established a new Illinois Deaf Ecosystem Directory on its website, which can be found under ‘Resources’ on the web site navigation menu.
What is an Ecosystem?
As defined by investopedia.com, an ecosystem is “supported by a foundation of interacting organizations and individuals which produces goods and services of value to customers, who are members of the ecosystem” [Source: investopedia.com].
What is a Deaf Ecosystem?
A Deaf Ecosystem is where deaf and hard of hearing individuals can succeed in an inclusive entrepreneurial environment without barriers, support and patronize deaf businesses. For the sale of goods / services, or employing deaf/hard of hearing individuals. By working and supporting others within the community, businesses can thrive and provide economic and personal benefits to the community.
What is the Illinois Deaf Ecosystem Directory?
The IAD web site Illinois Deaf Ecosystem Directory will allow business owners and deaf friendly related businesses to advertise for free, promote their niche. Link – The Illinois Deaf Ecosystem Directory
Illinois Deaf Ecosystem Facebook page allows businesses to post their own content and announcements (group is moderated – reviews and approvals will be required). Link – The Illinois Deaf Ecosystem Facebook group.
These resources, the Illinois Deaf Ecosystem Directory and Facebook group, will expand over time to include new content. Keep in mind that these are new resources for the community and that some tweaks may occur overtime.
