The Illinois Association of the Deaf is still concerned about the long-standing issues at the Illinois School for the Deaf (ISD).

In this letter sent to ISD Superintendent Julee Nist this morning, the IAD Board of Directors list examples of oppression and audism at the ISD and request Superintendent Nist take action to fix these issues.

Superintendent Nist responded sharing she received the email and will be developing a response.

We will be creating a VLOG briefly with more information.

Also, I am not too happy with Julee Nist being the superintendent at ISD. We need a deaf superintendent at ISD since they know and understand the education problems and needs of deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind children and youth much better than a hearing superintendent. We need to find a deaf superintendent to replace Julee Nist, and find much better results in the future at ISD.
