Earlier this afternoon, the Illinois Association of the Deaf wrote a letter to Governor Rauner regarding the recent activities at the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission, commissioners’ dereliction of responsibility and staff members’ abuse of powers.

I am from Virginia. I am deaf with ASL but still can speak with my voice. AG Bell is highly abuse power over deaf children in the future. AG Bell showed no love for deaf children. All deaf children who were born deaf are definitely deaf. Deaf are normal. Their life need to use ASL. Hearing people who want to take over control are audism to deaf people. Deaf culture know what the best education for deaf children is to use ASL than cued speech. To be honesty, I met a young man who have Cochlear Implant. He working as life guard at swimming pool. I saw him have been wearing C.I. in his performing his job. I met him and try to communicate with him due he does not know any ASL but cued speech. I could not understand with his cued speech. I using ASL and he could not understand my sign language. I see the view of life that hearing people try to separate between us in different education. I have to write and so is he. I told him to go to Gallaudet University that they have ASL to teach sign language. He took my advice. He told me it was his hearing mother not allow him using sign language because that ASL is dumb language. I told him it is not true. That is hearing world who they do language deprivation and oppression deaf children to do cued speech. That is not love. That is mind abuse. ASL is not mind abuse. It is real language to use it. He went to Gallaudet University. By the time next year summer, I went back to swimming pool. He was there again as life guard job. He saw me. He ran to me and using ASL. Wow! He learned fast. He told me he became very very very angry to his own mother for audism him to do cued speech and forbidden sign language and language deprivation. He said he wish to learn sign language long time ago would have catch up all education. He understood about cued speech cause his life waste. He said sign language is so awesome and can communicate fast and fully understood now. Hearing people are mean to deaf children. That AG Bell showed no love for deaf children. No respect our deaf culture what we know the best for deaf children to have good education with ASL. Using ASL will not delay education. Using cued speech will delay education. This Ill. School for the Deaf are for ASL but not cued speech. Hearing teacher have to stop abuse power over deaf children. They have to stop putting deaf children suffer like AG Bell always put deaf children suffer. Time to stop it. ASL is far intelligence than cued speech. Now deaf world in another country deaf people using our ASL since they learned and they love our ASL. ASL is the most successful in this world. You don’t want that. Because hearing people don’t like it and thinking we deaf people using ASL are substandard human. This is not true. Hearing people will always lie. God is our witness.
