Former Senator Mary Landrieu was quoted saying, “Accountability at every level is critical, and leadership begins at the top.”
Jason Altmann shares that without the Illinois Association of the Deaf holding leadership at the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission (IDHHC) accountable for results, Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Illinoisans will continue to face the same recurring issues of subpar educational opportunities for our future generations, poor accessibility within senior living facilities and second-rate mental health services, as well as many other unsatisfactory services.
Simply put, the Deaf community needs a strong IDHHC to ensure progress is made. Thank you, Jason, for your hard work in making sure our community receives the support we need from IDHHC.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the IDHHC Commissioner’s Meeting at the Swoboda Deaf Center!
