Friends in the Chicagoland area, please read the email below received by one of our chapters, Chicago Chapter of Illinois Association of the Deaf, regarding public forums being held tomorrow July 12th and on Thursday, July 14th.

Good Afternoon,

As part of our civil pattern or practice investigation into the Chicago Police Department and our continued community outreach efforts, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, will be hosting two public forums in Chicago: one on July 12th at Truman City College and the other on July 14th at the KROC Center – Capilla. At these forums, we will provide information about our investigative process and advise people on how they can contact the DOJ, but offer the majority of time for community members to speak about their experiences, positive or negative, with the Chicago Police Department.

Attached (click here), please find information about these two events. American Sign Language interpreters will be available at July 12th’s event, and Spanish language interpreters will be available at both events. If you, or anyone else, has any questions or needs to request additional resources, please do not hesitate to contact me or Katelyn Smith (202-616-4578).

It is our hope that you will share this information with your communities, members, clients, staff, friends, and family. Please direct all press inquiries to David Jacobs at 202-514-2007. Community members that are unable to make the public forums, but would like to provide information to the DOJ, should contact us via the information below:
