The Illinois Association of the Deaf (IAD) strongly believes every Deaf and Hard of Hearing child should have access to American Sign Language (ASL). Early access to ASL serves as a foundation for language acquisition. Nyle DiMarco is a beneficiary of early access to ASL, but the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) attempted to minimize his success and dismiss the important benefits of accessing ASL at a young age.
As a result, the IAD sent a letter to AG Bell condemning them for their ongoing irresponsible behavior. Click here to read the letter.
